After the Picnic at Belsay yesterday Frank & Mayling came round for a coffee where Frank expressed his need (cos that is what it is) for a Longbow and so I said I would make him one.
He wants to see it as it is made so here is the first bit Frank, some Ash and some Red Oak being glued together for the stave.
I used a cotton wrap to hold it together but old bicycle inner tubes are best so if anyone has any old bicycle inner tubes please get them over to me for stave wrapping fun.
More woodworking fun when the glue dries...I bet you can't wait!!!
I feel all strung up with excitement!

Isn't a bow usually made out of ribbon, lace or some such other girly material?

Ahh these are hard men Tim, rubber and flexible wood, to go with their flexing muscles.
